Thread Lift · Singapore

A lifted, firmer face — without surgery.

PDO, PCL, and PLLA threads provide immediate mechanical lifting and long-term collagen stimulation for a naturally rejuvenated appearance. No general anaesthesia, no surgical scars.

How thread lifts work

Lift, tighten, and stimulate collagen

Thread lifts use fine, dissolvable threads inserted under the skin through a tiny entry point to mechanically lift sagging tissue while stimulating collagen production. The threads dissolve over months — but the collagen network they stimulate remains, providing ongoing skin support.

Dr Mavis Pak uses PDO (polydioxanone), PCL (polycaprolactone), and PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) threads — each with different longevity profiles and collagen-stimulating mechanisms. She recommends the most appropriate type based on your anatomy, degree of laxity, and goals.

  • Immediate visible lift from the first session
  • Ongoing collagen stimulation for months after threads dissolve
  • Suitable for mild to moderate facial sagging
  • Significantly less downtime than surgical facelift
  • Can be combined with fillers and BTX for comprehensive rejuvenation
  • Local numbing only — no general anaesthesia

Limitations: Thread lifts work best for mild to moderate laxity. Significant skin excess typically requires surgical correction. Dr Mavis Pak will be honest about whether a thread lift is likely to meet your goals.

FAQs

Thread lift questions answered

How long do thread lift results last?
Results vary by thread type. PDO provides lift for 12–18 months total (including collagen effect). PCL threads last longer in tissue (12–18 months) with sustained collagen stimulation. PLLA stimulates progressive collagen for up to 24 months. Most patients choose to top up annually to maintain results.
Is it painful?
Local anaesthetic is applied before thread insertion. Most patients experience mild pressure or a pulling sensation during the procedure rather than significant pain. Mild soreness in the days following is common and managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
What is the downtime?
Most patients take 1–2 days away from social activities. Mild swelling, bruising, and occasional skin dimpling are common in the first few days and typically resolve within a week. Strenuous exercise and wide facial movements should be minimised for 1–2 weeks.
Can threads be combined with fillers?
Yes — and this is often the recommended approach. Fillers restore lost volume and structure; threads lift and tighten. Combined strategically, they address different aspects of facial ageing and produce more comprehensive results than either alone.
What are the risks?
Common side effects include temporary bruising, swelling, and mild thread visibility under the skin in the first few days. Rare complications include infection, thread extrusion, or asymmetry. These risks are minimised by proper technique. Dr Mavis Pak will discuss the specific risk profile at your consultation.
Will I look pulled or unnatural?
Not with correct placement and conservative technique. Thread lifts should produce a refreshed, natural appearance. Dr Mavis Pak's approach is always to enhance your natural features — never to create an overdone or taut result.
Am I too young or too old for a thread lift?
Thread lifts are most effective for patients in their late 30s to 60s with mild to moderate laxity. They are less effective for very young patients with minimal laxity or for older patients with significant skin excess. Dr Mavis Pak will assess your anatomy and advise whether threads are appropriate for you.
